Panic Symptoms


During a panic attack people may experience the following symptoms. Not all symptoms are necessary to experience a panic attack and different individuals may experience different combination of symptoms:

  • Shortness of breath

  • Increased heart rate

  • Dizziness or feeling "light headed"

  • "Tingling" or numb feeling in the fingers or toes

  • Tightness of the chest

  • Choking

  • Feeling like about to faint

  • Sweating

  • Trembling or shaking

  • Hot or cold flushes

  • Perception that the surroundings are "unreal"

  • Dryness of the moth

  • Nausea

  • "Wobbly" or unsteady legs

  • Blurry vision

  • Muscle tension

  • Feelings of inability to speak or deal with a situation

  • Feelings that something horrible is about to happen (e.g., death, going mad, heart attack...etc).
